This holiday season, it’s important to make sure you get the traveler in your life exactly what he or she wants and needs to help make their next Xplorco adventure a positive one. Gifts both big and small can help make traveling that much more enjoyable, so we’re here to help find you that perfect gift for your special someone.
The Gift of Luggage
There are only about 300 options out there, so it’s hard to know what the best are. As hardside suitcases have made a comeback in recent years, the decisions are even harder to make. We like a few.
Briggs & Riley offers an awesome bag for a reasonable cost. The bags are sturdy, stylish and durable, but their top feature is that they have an unlimited warranty that even covers airline damage because no matter how good the bag is, an airline can do a number on it.
From the company that makes the Swiss Army knife, Victorinox produces some really nice luggage. The price point might be a bit above mid-range, but it’s in the general vicinity.
Hartmann has been around for nearly 150 years, and they just seem to be getting better. And if you’re looking for a reason to buy a piece of luggage and pricy as a Hartmann bag, look no further than the fact that James Bond carried it back in the early days of the spy series.
Samsonite has been around forever and continues to make quality bags for a reasonable price. It has both hardside and softside bags with all sorts of features. They’re both stylish and functional, with the latter obviously mattering quite a bit in luggage.
These certainly don’t represent the only options out there. There are plenty of amazing ones, so our recommendation if you don’t go with these is to make sure you go to buy at a store where you can best view your options because there are certainly plenty!
The Gift of Accessories
A great toiletry kit can make all the difference in traveling. One with compartments, such as this one from the aforementioned Briggs & Riley offers a chance to separate items while keeping them all in one place during the travel.
There’s very little more uncomfortable than the stiffness after a long flight, and that’s something compression socks can really help to counteract. These from LL Bean will work for both business travel and recreational and will make you feel extra fresh getting off that long flight.
No flight or vacation is complete without headphones and there are a few that fit the bill. Of course, in 2018 (almost 2019), why buy wired headphones when you can get wireless and save that hassle, so here are three great options in a few different price points:
- Jaybird X3 In-Ear Wireless – These headphones offer eight hours of use between charges with the opportunity to personalize your sound settings and have them stored directly in the earbuds for any device.
- OYRGCIK Wireless Earbuds – These provide about three or four hours of playtime that is achieved in about an hour of charging time. They’re pretty perfect for really any activity and they’re very inconspicuous in your ears.
- Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless Headphones – These have three levels of world-class noise cancellation and are Alexa-enabled for voice access to music, information and much more. Also, these provide hassle free pairing, so you don’t have to waste countless minutes getting it to pair with your device. Oh yeah, and the battery life is about 20 hours, which is crazy!
The Gift of Gift Cards
There are quite a few gift cards that make sense to buy for the person on the go. Uber or Lyft will allow your traveling friend the opportunity to have his or her ride(s) covered. Getting them a StubHub gift card could allow them to see a show or a game while they’re on the road. And hey, why not get them the gift of Starbucks so when they’re dragging on that last day of vacation, they can get some lattes for the whole family to get everyone up and at ‘em for that last day of sightseeing?
The Gift of Remembering Those Trips
A scratch map can allow that traveler in your life (or you, get two!) to scratch off where they’ve been in a way that’s really cool and fun and will inspire everyone to get out and go more!
Any journal will do the trick, but this one is waterproof, tearproof and weatherproof which means you can take it with you everywhere you go and track vacations while on them and after returning home.
And similar to the scratch map, this cork globe with pins lets travelers visualize where they’ve been, where they’re going and/or where they want to go. It’s just a fun piece to have up in the house to inspire even more travel, which we love!
